Jared McCain Update - Back In The Gym
He’s not over his injury yet, but McCain is clearly working his way back.
Philadelphia had a tough season last year. There were numerous injuries. Big man Joel Embiid played in just 19 games. Paul George made it for 41. Tyrese Maxey played in just 51.
The injuries opened up an unexpectedly early opportunity for former Duke Blue Devil Jared McCain and the rookie rose to the occasion. At one point he was the leading candidate for Rookie of the Year, but in keeping with the theme, McCain suffered an injury too, tearing his left meniscus.
As it turned out, after he really opened some eyes with some brilliant basketball, that injury limited him to 23 games.
It was really a lost season for Philly.
But the good news is that while McCain was held out of Summer League play to continue his rehab, he’s back on the court and getting ready for the upcoming season.
Philly will have Maxey of course and also rookie VJ Edgecombe, but McCain proved his value and will likely be a factor. How much of a factor probably depends on how quickly he gets back to 100 percent.
That also assumes that he doesn't get traded.
