College Basketball Star Dead at 22 in Accident
Tulane University's star basketball player Greg Glenn III has died in a "tragic accident," according to a school release. The 22-year-old forward passed away last weekend, though the school did not disclose the cause of his death.
"We have lost a cherished member of our university community, Gregg Glenn III, who died in a tragic accident this weekend," wrote Sarah Cunningham, the vice president of student affairs, in a statement. "He was a talented student-athlete who enriched our lives with his spirit, dedication, and passion for both sports and academics. Gregg was an outstanding athlete on our men's basketball team and an individual who brought joy and light to those around him. His commitment to excellence inspired many of us."
Glenn, from Pompano Beach, Florida, spent his freshman year at Michigan State University, before transferring to Tulane in 2023. He was set to enter his senior season; he averaged 10.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists and started all 34 games for the Green Wave men's basketball team.
The late basketball star was recruited out of high school, earned a 4-star rating, and was named the 113th best player nationally.
"Known for his infectious personality, positive energy, and kindness, he brightened every room he entered. Well known in the South Florida area for his basketball prowess, he will be greatly missed by many," wrote Cunningham in the statement. "Let us remember Gregg not just for his achievements in sports, but for the kindness and warmth he shared with everyone. He will forever remain a part of our university family."
