A promising freshman, Sarr already has professional experience.

Cedric Coward had one of the most amazing climbs and stories in the NBA Draft in years. He had committed to Duke as a transfer from Washington State before the NBA began to see him as a major talent.

Coward had started at D-III Willamette so to get to the NBA Draft is just amazing and everyone loved the story.

However, it left Duke somewhat in the lurch, but that worked out rather well when Dame Sarr committed to the Blue Devils.

A 6-8 Italian wing, Sarr has been playing professionally in Europe for a couple of years, suiting up for Barcelona and he’s the subject of the last Duke Chronicle player profile.

He’s admired for his athleticism and his shooting and his addition should mean that Duke has at least three excellent outside shooters: Sarr, Isaiah Evans and Darren Harris.

From the Chronicle: “Sarr’s ability to stretch the court with his elite shooting while providing alternative scoring options will make him a great fit with his new team. And due to his time in Europe, the former Barcelona man will bring a level of veteran experience to the locker room that is uncommon among most players his age, and every one of his teammates should benefit from the spacing he can create with his flamethrower capability behind the arc.“

His defensive potential is also quite high so look for Sarr to make an early impression for Duke. He’s already getting some mention in mock drafts.

Sarr is going to play easy and get plenty of minutes. He should be a key to Duke’s season.
