After his first F1 podium came in his 239th start in the sport, Nico Hülkenberg was back at the Sauber factory to celebrate. And he had a message to the rest of the midfield

On Sunday Sauber driver Nico Hülkenberg celebrated his first Formula 1 podium in his 239th start in the series, taking third place at the British Grand Prix.

Monday Hülkenberg was back at the team’s factory in Hinwil, Switzerland to celebrate with the entire team, and Sauber shared a message from the driver to their fans on social media.

In the message, Hülkenberg noted that while podiums may not be on offer for him and Sauber each week, he is looking forward to the rest of the season as well as some “midfield fights:”

“I came to Hinwil to capture the moment and obviously our success from yesterday with all the factory people as well,” began Hülkenberg in the video. “And big emotions again, obviously. To see everyone here, see the happy faces, and their emotions, all the work that everyone puts in and contributes is paying off.

“Obviously we can’t this every weekend now, but I think we’re definitely good for some midfield fights and I look forward to the rest of the season,” added the driver.

Hülkenberg’s stunning third-place finish at Silverstone, coming after he qualified in P19 for the British Grand Prix, propelled the team up to sixth in the Constructors’ Championship standings. Sauber arrived at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix sitting ninth, but moved up after Hülkenberg banked 15 critical points for the team.

Now he and the rest of the team will hope for one of those “midfield fights” when the grid returns to action at the Belgian Grand Prix later this month.
