We have some ideas.

With Justin Robinson moving on to the Los Angeles Lakers, a spot is open on Jon Scheyer’s staff. So who might replace him?

Over at LastWordOnSports.com, Zach Kircher has a few suggestions and we totally agree with him on the first one:

Quinn Cook.

We’ve said for a long time that we’d love to see Cook get into coaching. He’s got so much to offer. First, even though he didn’t stick, he worked his ass off to get to the NBA and earned enormous respect. Second, he’s a natural leader. Third, he’s charismatic. And fourth, he understands Duke Basketball inside out.

But what if he doesn’t want to get into coaching?

Kircher lists these candidates:

  • Luol Deng
  • Gerald Henderson
  • Shelden Williams
  • Javin DeLaurier

Although Scheyer may cast a wider net, here are some other choices from the Brotherhood.

We have a few other candidates to add to Kircher’s list.

  • Matt Jones - Mike Krzyzewski said he never had a bad day in practice. We think he’d be a brilliant hire.
  • Jordan Goldwire - he made a huge impression in Durham and has a lot of admirers. Seems like a solid option.
  • Jeremy Roach - he’s not done playing yet, but we’d love to see him come back.
  • Kelly Flagg - just kidding. Well, sort of. She did do a brilliant job with Cooper. It’d be an amazing out of the box hire.
  • Nate James - he might not be willing to do it after being a head coach, but he’d be great.
