2025 NBA Free Agency: The latest rumors on the Lakers free agent and trade targets

The Lakers are going to be very active participants when NBA free agency kicks off on Monday.
On top of having needs at the center position as well as on the wing, the Lakers also will be working to retain at least one of their own free agents as well in Dorian Finney-Smith.
With Rob Pelinka vowing not to leave a stone unturned in searching for a new big this summer and the Lakers having already gone to work by making multiple trades during the 2025 NBA Draft, everything is shaping up for an exciting offseason.

NBA Free Agency Start Date
Monday, June 30 at 3 p.m. PT — Teams can officially begin speaking to free agents on Monday afternoon, a change in recent seasons.
When can NBA teams officially sign free agents?
Saturday, July 5 at 9:01 p.m. PT — Teams can officially put pen to paper on contracts and make free agent signings official. They can also officially finalize trades on this date as well. This is also the date that teams can officially sign restricted free agents to offer sheets as well.
