Summer League in Las Vegas will kick off with a bang as the Lakers and Mavs will play on Opening Night.

Arguably the two biggest names of Las Vegas Summer League won’t take long to face off against one another.

The NBA announced on Thursday that Bronny James and the Lakers will meet Cooper Flagg and the Mavs in the first game of Las Vegas Summer League. The No. 2 and No. 3 picks in the 2025 NBA Draft, Dylan Harper and VJ Edgecombe, respectively, will play in the nightcap.

The games will take play on July 10.

Last summer, Bronny was the talk of the town in Vegas during Summer League. Given the hype surrounding Flagg, it seems fairly easy to predict a sell-out and electric atmosphere for the game.

None of that even speaks to the underlying Luka Dončić of it all, either. While it won’t have much of an impact in the game itself, boy would it be quite the story if he were courtside, too.

The Lakers Summer League roster should be a solid one with Adou Thiero, the team’s second round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, and Eric Dixon, their first two-way signing, likely to be the newest additions. Dalton Knecht could be on the Lakers’ roster as well, as could the team’s other current two-way signing in Trey Jemison III.

The Lakers will start Summer League in San Francisco at the California Classic. They will play the Warriors, Spurs and Heat across the three days.
