As Duke fans got to see a basketball revolutionary in person

The greatest thing about being in Cameron is seeing Duke play obviously, but the second greatest thing is that we see so many great opponents come through. Over the years, Duke fans have seen guys like Sam Clancy, Ralph Sampson, Michael Jordan, James Worthy, David Thompson, John Lucas, Len Bias, the Ernie and Bernie Show back in the day, Muggsy Bogues, Chris Webber and, not least of all, Steph Curry.

Before Bob McKillop got to Davidson, getting the Wildcats on the schedule just meant an easy game. That changed during the Curry era.

Curry showed signs of greatness early at Davidson and he was good enough to keep Davidson in the game with anyone.

In this particular game, Davidson visited Duke in 2009 and while Curry racked up 29, Duke won, 79-67 and held Curry to just 1-8 on threes.

By the way, if you didn’t know, Curry nearly came to Duke. The Currys had talked to Duke about possibly walking on because Mike Krzyzewski and staff felt that he was too small (he was about 5-9 in high school if memory served). They somewhat corrected the error when Curry’s brother Seth left Liberty after one season and chose the Blue Devils.
