Brotherhood Draft Watch: A Good Maluach Read
He just seems like such a good guy
It’s funny. Duke fans know Khaman Maluach, yet we don’t. We know the broad brush outlines of his life - being a refugee, being brought into basketball because he’s tall, coming to Duke, he’s by all accounts a wonderful person - but there’s so much that we don’t know.
This article from CBS fills in some of the stuff we don't know about him and there’s a lot here we didn’t know. But there’s one thing that just really surprises us.
Maluach speaks four languages.
That in and of itself doesn't surprise us (it’s also wrong, which we’ll get back to). We’re not surprised that he speaks English and Spanish as those are global languages. He also speaks Japanese and Norwegian Bokmål. Who saw that coming?
We’re guessing he also speaks either Dinka and/or Nuer, both common in South Sudan, and possibly Bantu, Sudan or Nilotic in Uganda, where he lived for a good bit of his life.
So rather than four, let’s assume at least six, which is pretty great.
Anyway, there’s a lot of good stuff in here about Man Man, so enjoy. It’s a great read.
