Brotherhood Draft Watch: Kon Knueppel Discusses His Game
Pretty cool insights from #7
Kon Knueppel has steadily moved up the draft boards for some time now and obviously made a good impression in the NBA Combine. ESPN recently revised their mock draft and has him going to Brooklyn with the #8 pick.
For his part, Knueppel is not sitting around and mentally cashing checks. He’s a worker and he’s well aware of what he’s good at and what he can work on.
Kevin O’Connor posted this article about his podcast interview with Knueppel and he said some interesting comments. Here are a few:
“I love how Klay [Thompson] played. I would love to play like Klay. He’s so efficient with his movement. He’s shooting the ball the same. Even if his feet aren’t facing the right way, his shoulders are.”
- “Two-feet finishing is really effective in college basketball, utilizing your shot fake, your pivots. But I think it’s more valuable in college than it is in the pros. So that’s why I’ve been working more on one-foot finishing creativity here this offseason. And more of those floater-type shots, midrange shots.”
- “There’s lows in life. It’s just a basketball game at the end of the day, but really it’s something you put a lot of time into for a whole year with a bunch of good people. So, how do you respond to that? That’s what I’ve been doing this offseason. Just getting better, using that as fuel because it leaves a bad taste in your mouth.”
There’s a lot more in here and while we’ve seen evidence that Knueppel has an excellent basketball mind, we get a real taste of it in this article. In fact, given what we’ve seen on the court and here, you kind of wonder if Knueppel might to have a future in coaching when his playing days are over.
