Top-25 2028 prospect Malik Moore chats summer goals ahead of first EYBL live session

Class of 2028 point guard Malik Moore will be a name to watch over the coming years. The 6-foot-3, 165-pound guard out of Union Catholic (NJ) was recently ranked the No. 21 overall prospect in ESPN’s debut of the 2028 rankings. He’ll be looking to prove his top-25 status this summer with the PSA Cardinals 15u squad.
So far, Moore is off to a great start. Heading into the first live session, PSA sits at 11-0 while playing in a few non-EYBL events. Moore’s play at the point guard position has a lot to do with their success.
“I want to show coaches that I can win,” Moore said. “My main thing ever since AAU started is to win every single game, like no matter what. Because I feel like, as a point guard, you could be the reason why your team loses. And if you win, people might not always be like, ‘Oh, he’s the reason why they won.’ But I feel like the point guard position plays a big impact on whether or not you win or lose. So I feel like my job as a point guard is to make sure my team wins, and right now we are 11-0. So I’m proud of myself. The main goal is we have 12 games over the course of three sessions and my goal is to go 12-0. Like nothing less than to go 12-0 and to win Peach Jam.”
This ambition comes from his father, Martin Moore, who played point guard for Delaware State in the early 90s. He’s taught his son the everyday process is important.
“He’s taught me everything — like shooting, dribbling, passing, playing hard,” Moore said. “But he really taught me that everything matters from how you sleep, to how consistent you are in your daily habits, to how much you work out and how smart you are with your workouts.”
Moore also has two older brothers, Jassiem and Omari Moore. Jassiem played at the Division II level with Georgian Court, and Omari just wrapped up his senior season with Hudson Catholic and will head to Manhattan for the 2025-26 season.
Being the youngest, Moore has had an opportunity to absorb tons of valuable information from his basketball family. It shows in his game.
“I describe myself as an athletic point guard that can see the floor,” Moore said. “I play defense at a high level, and I can handle the ball pretty well. I can get my teammates involved and I can shoot the ball pretty well too.”

This summer, Moore will be working on his mid-range game and floaters, as well as thinking the game more and being a true leader on the court.
“I want coaches to see that I can play defense at a very, very high level, and I want them to see that I’m a true point guard, and that I can stuff the stat sheet,” Moore said. “I can do everything, like get rebounds, assists, score the ball. My main thing right now is on the ball, so I really want to show coaches that I can give my teammates the ball and balance those two without it looking like a struggle.”
So far in the recruitment process, Moore has fielded offers from Hampton and Manhattan. It’s still very early for him and more schools are sure to be interested in the future. When things start getting real, Moore is looking for a few things out of college programs.
“I want to see that coaches really push players,” Moore said. “I don’t really like really nice coaches. I want coaches that are going to be on me every practice so I can keep getting better. My main thing about basketball is always getting better each day, and I feel like if the coach is always being easy on me he’s not gonna push me to my potential. So thats the main thing I am looking for in a coach. I’m looking for a coach that trusts me and is going to be real about everything so I know what I am getting myself into.”
Moore’s first game in Memphis will be Friday, May 16, at 11 a.m. vs. the NY Rens.
“Malik brings versatility at the point guard position with his height and length,” PSA coach Gustave “Geese” Koumare told ZAGSBLOG. “He has shown tremendous growth as a point guard, balancing out finding teammates and showing his well known scoring ability. Being coachable and a determination to learn more will be attributes that help separate himself from his peers.”
