Things are looking good for Duke in this June’s draft

Over at CBS, Adam Finkelstein has a mock draft posted that again would have good news for Duke.

Here’s the standard caveat: the draft lottery isn’t set until Monday and even when it is, teams will move up and down and they’ll run scams on each other to push guys up or down to get the players they really want.

And really, one of the most entertaining aspects of the draft is the gamesmanship. Red Auerbach made it into an art form and plenty of guys today are good at it as well.

The last two drafts we’ve featured had Duke’s freshman all going in the Top Six. This one has them all going in the Top Seven, and that’s close enough.

That may or may not happen, precisely because of the gamesmanship we were just talking about, but nonetheless, it suggests that Cooper Flagg, Kon Knueppel and Khaman Maluach should all do well on draft night.

In this mock draft, Utah gets the #1 pick and goes with Flagg.

It’s fairly standard at this point to see the Rutgers duo of Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey go 2-3 to Washington and Charlotte. Baylor’s VJ Edgecombe goes to the Pelicans at #4 and Texas Longhorn Tre Johnson goes to Philly at #5.

Then Finkelstein sees Knueppel going to Brooklyn at #6 right before Toronto takes Maluach with the #7 pick.
