Duke’s Kara Lawson To Coach Team USA
A great honor indeed
Well this is pretty great news: Duke women’s basketball coach Kara Lawson will coach the U.S. team in the 2025 USA Women’s AmeriCup.
Lawson said this about her latest honor: “I’m incredibly honored to be named the 2025 Women’s AmeriCup Head Coach by USA Basketball. The opportunity to work with some of the top players in the country, and the opportunity to coach alongside some of the top coaches in the country is something I’m very excited about. I always look forward to serving USA Basketball in any capacity that I am asked.”
And indeed, Lawson has done a lot for USA Basketball: as a players, she helped win gold in Beijing in both the World University Games (2001) and the Olympics (2008). She also coached the 3x3 team in the Tokyo Olympics (2020).
It’s great that she’s getting this opportunity and it will help her to grow as a coach and will help Duke as well.
