Golden State basketball is on the way! Come join our game thread and chat about tonight’s matchup here.

The Golden State Warriors’ season comes down to a one game, winner-take-all, Game 7 matchup against the Houston Rockets on Sunday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM PT in Houston and can be watched on TNT.

Previously with the Warriors:

Golden State let another closeout opportunity slip away, losing 115-107 at home in Game 6. The Warriors lacked the urgency needed to finish the series, committing 10 of their 16 total turnovers in the first half alone. Despite this, they still found themselves within striking distance, trailing by just two points entering the fourth quarter.

However, that’s when the game began to unravel. In a disastrous start to the final frame, Gary Payton II fouled Fred VanVleet on a made three-pointer, putting Houston up by six. That sequence sparked a 20-5 Rockets run during which the Warriors went nearly five minutes without scoring—allowing the deficit to grow too large to overcome.

What to watch for tonight:

Momentum is squarely on Houston’s side entering Game 7. Their starters have stepped up recently, led by VanVleet—who’s torched the Warriors, shooting 10-of-15 from three over the past two games.

The Rockets have also leaned on their size, with backup center Steven Adams and starter Alperen Sengun dominating Golden State’s smaller lineup. That interior advantage has been paired with a zone defense that the Warriors have struggled to solve all series long.

With their season on the line, the Warriors have no choice but to go all out. Head coach Steve Kerr made that clear after Friday’s loss, telling reporters “everything” is on the table for Game 7—including the possible return of Jonathan Kuminga, who hasn’t played in the past three games.

Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler both logged 42 minutes in Game 6 and will likely be leaned on heavily again. Both have a history of rising to the occasion in Game 7s—Butler in Miami’s win over Boston in 2023, and Curry with his 50-point masterpiece against Sacramento that same postseason. The Warriors will need their stars to deliver once more—or risk an offseason beginning far earlier than they expected.
