Steph Curry wins the 2024-25 Teammate of the Year Award
The veteran guard knows a thing or two about being a good teammate
This week, veteran Warriors guard and all-time NBA great Steph Curry won the 2024-25 Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award. Since the award was introduced at the end of the 2012-13 season, Curry is the only Warrior to have won the award. The award is given to the NBA player “deemed the best teammate based on selfless play, on- and off-court leadership as a mentor and role model to other NBA players, and commitment and dedication to team,” per the NBA’s website.
Like many of the other regular season awards, Curry was chosen by his fellow NBA players out of a list of 12 finalists. Curry won the NBA’s sportsmanship award in 2011, so it’s no surprise that the Teammate of the Year award would follow, though it’s a bit surprising that it took this long, considering Curry’s longtime dedication to his teammates and the Golden State Warriors franchise as a whole.
Only 10 of the 30 NBA teams have had a player win the award in its 12-year existence. Fellow veterans Mike Conley and Jrue Holiday are two-time and three-time winners of the award respectively.
