London All-Stars claim WNBL D2 Playoff title
London All Stars claimed their maiden Division 2 women’s title as they edged past Milton Keynes Breakers 75-69 in the playoff final on Saturday at the NBPC in Manchester.
In a back-and-forth affair that saw the teams exchanging 20-10 quarters in both the second and third, the Pool II winners would outlast the Breakers to eventually claim the win.
Bena Ozzy-Momodu was named MVP with 17 points and five rebounds, narrowly getting the nod ahead of her teammate Josephine Maignomo with 15 points, 13 rebounds, four assists and four steals.
MK fought back to trail by just four in the closing moments but couldn’t quite get over the final hump.
Sarah Round led Milton Keynes with 25 points, seven rebounds and five assists, but the Breakers struggled without another guard to take ball handling duties.
