Arkansas guard Boogie Fland has ‘two feet in the NBA Draft’
By ADAM ZAGORIA
Arkansas freshman guard Boogie Fland has entered the transfer portal and the NBA Draft, but says he is focused on only one of those pathways.
“I’m two feet in the draft so I’m pursuing those dreams,” the 6-foot-2 Bronx, N.Y. native told ESPN’s Jonathan Givony following a workout in New York City.
Got to spend time with Boogie Fland in NYC. Interviewed and watched him go through an intense workout the day after entering the portal. Sounds like he's all in on the NBA Draft. A 2024 McDonald’s All-American, Fland has a “Do Not Contact” label on his transfer portal status, and sources close to him say he is 100 percent committed to the Draft process and just did not want to be sidetracked by college coaches calling him.
The former Archbishop Stepinac (NY) star averaged 13.5 points and 5.2 assists but was sidelined for about two months with a thumb injury that required surgery. He returned in time to help Arkansas beat Kansas and St. John’s before losing to Texas Tech in the Sweet 16.
He could go anywhere from the late teens to the 30s in the NBA Draft. Tankathon has him at No. 33.
“People like to say my NBA comp is Darius Garland, so what he brings to his team and his role, I feel I can bring to an NBA team,” Fland told Givony.
He said he also models his game after Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, LeBron James, Tyrese Maxey, and Immanuel Quickley.
“I’m just excited to go in there [to the NBA Draft Combine] and show what I can do,” he said.
