St. John’s has secured an international prospect.

Austrian forward Imran Suljanovic will play for the Red Storm next season, he announced Tuesday.

The 6-foot-8 small forward averaged 22.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game at the FIBA U18s this summer.

“I was watching Imran on film and had to see him in person,” said 2024-25 National Coach of the Year Rick Pitino. “I traveled outside Bologna, where he impressed me more with his overall game than what I watched on film. He shoots, passes, handles and is extremely agile. [Imran has] great potential. We are very excited to have him join the Johnnies.”

Suljanovic will be joining a strong class of transfer portal acquisitions for Pitino and St. John’s including UNC transfer Ian Jackson, Stanford transfer Oziyah Sellers Jr, Providence transfer Bryce Hopkins and Arizona State transfer Joson Sanon.

“I picked SJ because of the genuine interest of coach Pitino and just in general being coached by him is an opportunity that you dream of and can’t pass up on,” Suljanovic told ZAGSBLOG. “I really believe I can make the NBA and that he can help me get to that level. I’m a very versatile player on the court. I’ll bring outside shooting, scoring and ball handling and passing. I’m also a big winner so I’ll do anything to make the team win and get that championship.”

St. John’s led the BIG EAST with an 18-2 conference record in the regular season but lost in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to Arkansas.
