Warriors vs. Trail Blazers injury report
The full injury report for Friday night’s game.
The Golden State Warriors play the penultimate game of their regular season tonight, when they visit the Portland Trail Blazers. It’s an extremely important game against a team with nothing to play for that is without many of its best players. I’d say it’s hard to see them losing, but that was the exact situation they were facing when they lost on Wednesday to the San Antonio Spurs.
After the Memphis Grizzlies lost on Thursday, the Warriors are back to controlling their own fate. So ... just win, dudes. Please!
Here’s the full injury report.
Warriors
Questionable — Gary Payton II (right knee inflammation)
GPII has missed the last two games, and six of the last eight for the Warriors. The priority remains getting him healthy for the playoffs ... and if they win tonight, it takes them a step closer to avoiding the play-in tournament and getting him a full week of rest before the first round.
Questionable — Quinten Post (illness)
Post really got rocked by this illness, as it’s cost him two games already, and might cost him a third.
Trail Blazers
Out — Jerami Grant (right knee inflammation)
It was a tough season for Grant. After consecutive years averaging more than 20 points per game, he scored just 14.4 points per game this year, and hasn’t played in over a month.
Out — Deandre Ayton (left calf strain)
Ayton also hasn’t had the smoothest season. He’s averaging a double-double — 14.4 points and 10.2 rebounds — but it’s tied for the lowest scoring output of his career, and injuries have limited him to 40 games. He hasn’t played since before the All-Star break.
Out — Scoot Henderson (concussion protocol)
It hasn’t really been the year the Blazers were hoping for with Henderson, the third-overall pick in the 2023 draft. His points, rebounds, and assists per game have all dropped in his second season. Hopefully he’s doing OK, as concussions are scary things.
Out — Robert Williams III (left knee injury management)
Hopefully one day Williams will be healthy. He’s such a fun player, but has only played 235 games in his seven-year career ... and just 61 over the last three seasons.
Out — Anfernee Simons (right forearm contusion)
At this point you might be wondering who, exactly, is available for the Blazers. I’m honestly not sure.
Out — Bryce McGowens (right rib fracture)
One more player who’s out, just to make sure you’re paying attention.
Doubtful — Deni Avdija (right thumb sprain)
Avdija’s first year with the Blazers has been a career year: he’s averaging career bests in points (16.9), rebounds (7.3), and assists (3.9) per game.
Questionable — Shaedon Sharpe (right knee soreness)
Sharpe, the seventh-overall pick in 2022, has been having a stellar season, averaging 18.5 points per game. Unlike most of the players here, he’s actually been healthy, too — he’s played in 72 games.
The game tips off at 7:00 p.m. PT on NBC Sports Bay Area. Enjoy the action, Dub Nation!
