‘Not a team out there they can’t beat’ — GSoM reacts to another massive win
A live look at the fan reactions.
The Golden State Warriors wrapped up a magnificent week on Friday. After impressive wins over the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday and the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, the Dubs exorcised some demons against the Denver Nuggets, putting on a show for their home crowd in a 118-104 victory.
It’s always fun to see how fans reacted in real time. So here’s a look back at the game, through comments from Warriors fans in the Golden State of Mind game thread.
First quarter: “Can’t handle Jokic”
Offense came easy for the Warriors in the first, but it came even easier for the Nuggets. Superstar Nikola Jokić got everything he wanted, and Denver took a 44-34 lead after the opening 12 minutes.
Second quarter: “30 wants this win badly”
But the Warriors figured things out in the second quarter. Their defense was spectacular, as they held the Nuggets to just 16 points. Steph Curry started to put the team on his back offensively — yet again — and the Warriors erased what had been a 12-point deficit, to take a 66-60 lead at halftime.
Third quarter: “A1 television”
The momentum carried into the third quarter, where we were treated to some vintage performances from Curry and Jokić. The Warriors got the better of the frame though, and took a 96-84 lead into the final quarter.
Fourth quarter: “Oracle would’ve gave Cali an earthquake”
What an incredible fourth quarter it was. It was dramatic, even though the Warriors never really flirted with losing the lead. Curry’s theatrics continued, with outrageous defensive plays from Draymond Green and Jimmy Butler III, and clutch buckets from a red-hot Brandin Podziemski.
Post-game: “Another incredible night”
When the dust settled, the Warriors had won yet again, improving to 20-2 when Curry and Butler play. They stayed in the fifth seed, and are just a half-game behind the Nuggets, and one game behind the Lakers. More importantly, they get a day off on Saturday.
