Louisville’s backcourt grows stronger with top-3 portal additon
By SAM LANCE
Louisville’s backcourt should be a ton of fun to watch next season.
Kennesaw State transfer Adrian Wooley, the No. 3 overall player in the transfer portal per 247Sports, has committed to Pat Kelsey and the Cardinals. The 6-foot-5, 180-pound lefty guard from Tuscaloosa (AL) averaged 18.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game for the Owls in 2024-25. He’s now set to be a Cardinal and will pair with five-star class of 2025 guard and McDonald’s All-American Mikel Brown Jr.

Kelsey instantly turned around the Louisville program his first year at the helm, and he continues to show he can recruit with the best of ’em. Wooley was one of the most touted players in the portal, and Louisville won a recruiting battle against his home-state schools Alabama and Auburn, as well as a Blue Blood in Kansas.
Wooley was one of the best freshman in the country in 2024-25. His 18.8 points per game was the fifth-most by any freshman in college basketball, behind names like Dylan Harper and Cooper Flagg. He was Conference USA’s Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the All-CUSA First Team.
His pairing with Brown could give Louisville one of the best backcourts in the country for the 2025-26 season. Louisville also has a commitment from German power forward Sananda Fru, who will join the two guards as a newcomer on next season’s roster.
