As the basketball world comes to terms with its latest rising star

Jon Scheyer is having a moment, isn’t he?

Just 37 and three years into his head coaching career, Scheyer has tied Brad Stevens and Brad Underwood (and possibly one other guy but we can’t remember right now) for the most wins in his first three seasons. In the Final Four for the first time as a head coach, Scheyer can break it.

When he took the job we remember reading somewhere that “nobody respects Scheyer,” in spite of his killing everyone on the recruiting trail. Well, he’s getting all kinds of respect now: his team is seen as the favorite in the Final Four, people are raving about how he built this team and, as many people are saying right now, Duke is suddenly likable.

In this interview with Dan Patrick, the two touch on a number of things, including how Scheyer manages this team, the dramatic Butler game in the 2010 national championship game, and what Scheyer wants to see from Cooper Flagg during Final Four weekend.
