Report: Lakers sign Jordan Goodwin to guaranteed contract, waive Cam Reddish
The Lakers have rewarded Jordan Goodwin’s stellar play by reportedly converting him to a guaranteed contract with the team.
With the playoffs nearing, the Lakers finally made a move to bolster their team by converting guard Jordan Goodwin from a two-way contract player to the regular roster.
With Goodwin on a two-way deal, he wasn’t eligible for the postseason. Now that he is one of the 15 players on the main roster, he can play for the Lakers in the playoffs.
To open a roster spot, the Lakers are waiving Cam Reddish as well.
The Lakers are waiving Cam Reddish to create roster space for Goodwin, sources tell ESPN. Goodwin has grabbed at least one offensive rebound in 18 of his 19 games played, providing a spark for the Lakers off the bench. https://t.co/9QriYgghNR

Goodwin has played in 19 games with the purple and gold, has started three times and is averaging 6.4 points and 3.9 rebounds on the season.
Those numbers might not be eye-catching, but as head coach JJ Redick has indicated, Goodwin makes an impact beyond the box score.
Since joining the team back in February, he has quickly become a key member of the rotation. He’s an elite defensive guard and an on-ball agitator for opposing teams.
The fact the Lakers found another quality guy who has bounced around the NBA playing and have turned him into an impactful player is a testament to the front office’s ability to assess talent.
Retaining Goodwin gives Los Angeles some backcourt depth and a player Redick trusts to perform well as a perimeter defender this postseason.
Now, Goodwin has gone from a two-way guy to a mainstay on the team. The hope is that he can continue to follow in the footsteps of someone like Austin Reaves, who did the same thing and has become an important player for the Lakers, or even Alex Caruso.
For all the ups and downs the Lakers have had in recent years, Goodwin is another example of how great the scouting department remains.
Reddish played two seasons in LA but only featured in 33 games under JJ Redick. He averaged 3.2 points and 2.0 rebounds and hasn’t played rotation-level minutes since early January.
