Caitlin Clark Loses Basketball Shooting Contest To Eli Manning

Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark is one of the most high-profile athletes on the planet right now and has already established herself as one of the top shooters in the WNBA after just one season in the league. Unfortunately, none of that helped her in a friendly competition against New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning.

During the week of the Super Bowl, Clark and Manning met up in New Orleans for the two-time Super Bowl champion's show. During their meet-up, Manning suggested that the two compete in a game of Pop-A-Shot – an arcade game where players see how many shots they can make through a hoop in a given time from a short distance away.

While Clark is pretty undeniably one of the best shooters on the planet regardless of gender, she did not thrive in this contest. In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Manning absolutely destroyed Clark in the competition.

"I told you, I'm bad at Pop-A-Shot," Clark said during the competition as Manning extended his lead.

Manning ultimately topped Clark with a score of 76 to 51. But Clark was a good sport about the loss.

"Wow, give it up for Eli," Clark said.

Manning claimed that they do a lot of games with guests on the show, but he had never beaten a guest before. However, he also acknowledged that he spent a lot of time practicing leading up to the competition with Clark.

"I've been practicing a lot," Manning said. "I've been here all week."

It's worth noting that Pop-A-Shot is not exactly a good translation of basketball shooting ability as it relies more on speed than it does traditional shooting technique. 

Clark is hardly the first basketball star to lose a high-profile game of Pop-A-Shot to a non-basketball player, either. NBA legend Kobe Bryant famously lost a game of Pop-A-Shot to a busboy during an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Had this been a real three-point shooting competition, the results would certainly have been much different between Clark and Manning.
