Report: LeBron James could be sidelined for multiple weeks with groin injury
LeBron James injured his groin in the fourth quarter against the Celtics and could miss significant time.
The Lakers' injuries continue to pile up. Jaxson Hayes was ruled out against the Celtics with a right knee contusion, and the team is already missing Rui Hachimura due to left patellar tendinopathy.
Now, the Lakers have another injury to add to their list, and it involves their most important player, LeBron James.
He suffered a groin strain in the fourth quarter against the Celtics and had to exit the game. The early indication is that he could potentially be sidelined for weeks due to the injury.
It is too early to project an accurate timetable for how long LeBron James could miss because of his left groin injury, sources told ESPN. However one source said the initial thought is that it will sideline James for a matter of weeks, not a matter of days.

Any kind of injury for LeBron is a scary one, and a groin issue is absolutely something to be concerned about with only six weeks of basketball left. If he does in fact miss several weeks, that will make their current stretch of March games that much harder.
The Lakers have three back-to-backs coming up, and they feature some tough opponents such as the Milwaukee Bucks and the Denver Nuggets.
Postgame, coach JJ Redick didn’t have any additional information to provide but was clearly concerned about his star player.
JJ Redick said there is “obviously concern” with LeBron James’ groin strain, but he clarified that he doesn’t have any additional information.

This isn’t the first time LeBron has had issues with his groin.
He suffered a groin injury against the Clippers back in 2022, dealt with a groin issue back in 2020 and even missed time due to this kind of injury back in 2018.
Given his age and importance to this Lakers team, they’ll have to proceed cautiously and ensure his well-being before he returns to the court.
LeBron has been at the top of his game recently and was named the Western Conference Player of the Month for February. On the season, he’s averaging 25.1 points, 8.1 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game. With Hayes and Hachimura currently out, this four-game road trip could now have three starters unavailable.
Hopefully, over the next couple of days, the Lakers will be able to give us an update, and we can get some good news on LeBron’s timeline for return.
Until then, the team will have to continue on with their road trip and hope some of their other injured players can return to help lighten the load.
