This is a bummer

CBS’s Matt Norlander is reporting this over on Blue Sky:

Just confirmed that Jai Lucas will indeed leave Duke after this weekend’s North Carolina game to go full-time as Miami’s coach. Wild that a national title contender is losing a key member of its staff in what could be a full MONTH before the end of the team’s season, but that’s the portal for you.

That’s really a drag. We understand why he feels like he has to leave early. The portal really changes everything and you can’t afford to get too far behind on that. But as Norlander says, it’s still strange to leave when your team is a legitimate challenger for the national championship.

Lucas has been a huge part of that and it’s going to be disruptive to see him leave even before the ACC Tournament. But it’s his life and his decision. We’re grateful for what he’s done for Duke. Best of luck to him at Miami unless the ‘Canes are playing Duke.
