Lakers waive Christian Wood and find their big man, Alex Len

0 2

The Lakers have finally found their long-coveted big man. LA has been in need of center depth way before they delt Anthony Davis and now Alex Len, a 31-year-old, 7-foot, 250lb center joins the Lakers' center rotation along with Jaxson Hayes.

The Lakers waived Christian Wood in order to clear a roster spot for Len. It's been nearly a full calendar year since Wood last stepped onto the court and has delt with a series of unfortunate injury troubles that have held him out for an extended period of time.

Len was originally reported to join the Indiana Pacers after being traded to and waived by the Washington Wizards. Len spent his last four years with the Sacramento Kings, playing a severely limited role in his last three seasons, hovering around 8 minutes per game. Len's numbers may not jump off the page, but he may find a decent role here in LA due to their need for size in the paint.

The Lakers were left to scavenge the buyout market for another big man after the Mark Williams trade fell through. And while the Lakers' defense has held up in the last 10 games without a true rim protector (#1 ranked defense) it's nice to have some sense of versatility with the lineups.
