ACC Roundup - Virginia Visits Pitt
And it could be a long night for the ‘Hoos
Only one game on Monday as Virginia visits Pitt and we don't think the Cavaliers have what it takes to knock off Pitt, much less on the road.
Post-Bennett Virginia has been depressing. We didn't enjoy watching his Virginia teams play because they were so deliberate, but they did at least two things extremely well: defense of course, which was just brutal, and managing winning time.
That’s all gone now.
Pitt has some players who can be explosive and again, they're at home. It could be Jaland Lowe, it could be Zack Austin, it could be Damian Dunn or it might be Brandin Cummings.
Cam Corhen has matured into a decent big man and then they have the Guillermo Diaz twins, Papa Amadou Kante and Austin to patrol the inside.
It’s possible Virginia could just heat up and kill Pitt on threes, but the Panther defense is pretty rugged, so that’s hard to see. Isaac McKneely and Taine Murray are capable but they have limited athleticism and getting loose for threes could be an issue.
Then again, we didn’t think Georgia Tech could take Louisville and they sure did, didn’t they?
So you never want to rule stuff out.
Realistically though? It’s just hard to see Virginia winning this one.
