Colonie girls basketball head coach Heather DiBiase recognized for 300th career win
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Colonie girls basketball head coach Heather DiBiase was honored prior to Tuesday night's game against Schenectady for reaching 300 career wins.
The milestone-clinching victory came on Jan. 19 against St. John's Prep at the Rose Classic in New York City.
DiBiase is in her 18th season as head coach of Colonie, where she's racked up 246 victories and three Section II titles. Her first 56 victories came in four seasons at the helm of Johnstown.
But win No. 300 snuck up on her.
"I really didn't have any idea," said DiBiase. "When you do something that you love, you don't really realize how many wins you have."
DiBiase has been a head coach for 22 seasons, and her full coaching career spans 28 seasons.
"I can't believe I've been coaching for as long as I have. It's been a great journey; I've loved every second of it. I've coached some really great kids and had some really great teams. It's really because of them that this was able to happen."
DiBiase picked up her 302nd win Tuesday night, as the Wolfpack took down Schenectady 71-15.
