Lakers to resume regular season against Spurs on Monday
After having their last two games postponed due to the wildfires in Los Angeles, the Lakers look set to resume their season on Monday against the Spurs.
The Lakers look set to finally return to the court on Monday against the Spurs to resume their regular season following a nearly week-long break.
As wildfires wreaked havoc on Los Angeles, the Lakers' games against the Hornets on Thursday and the Spurs on Saturday were postponed. However, as reported by Dave McMenamin of ESPN, the Lakers will return to the court on Monday against the Spurs to continue their regular season.

As of now, tomorrow's Lakers-Spurs game is on as scheduled. League/teams etc. have been in contact with LA officials and the game is safe to host/won't divert resources. Obviously fluid situation, but that's the latest.

The Lakers held practice on Friday, offering a first chance for the team to talk about the situation at hand. An emotional JJ Redick spoke about losing his house and the destruction in the Palisades community from the fires.
At the same time, he also stated that he and the team wanted to play their game on Saturday against San Antonio. Obviously, that was not possible as both their game and the Clippers’ game were postponed. Both, though, appear set to resume playing on Monday.
The Lakers held a shootaround on Saturday morning but did not practice on Sunday. The Clippers, however, did practice on Sunday, offering them a chance to speak of the fires as well.

“It’s been tough. Tough for our city, tough situation for all the families involved, friends, neighbors… We’ve just been trying to practice the last few days, trying to clear our minds as much as we can.” pic.twitter.com/uYn851GmTA
Tyronn Lue said that he thinks Nicolas Batum didn’t go to bed until around 6 AM Wednesday morning as he was mapping out evacuation routes for his family, checking in on them, etc. https://t.co/LS0vDxrcXa

Kawhi Leonard has also been away from the team as his family was forced to evacuate as well. The Clippers, too, will return to the court on Monday as they are slated to play the Heat.
California governor Gavin Newsom provided an encouraging update, relatively speaking, about the situation with the fires on Sunday morning.
UPDATE: Southern California wildfires progress
— Gavin Newsom (@GavinNewsom) January 12, 2025

- Sunset Fire: 100% containment
- Lidia Fire: 100% containment
