Prep basketball roundup: Butler scores 15 as Archie Williams earns road win
Archie Williams High took control in the second half of Saturday’s contest to defeat Rio Americano, 55-39, in the Inaugural Battle at the Trail Showcase at Monterey Trail High in Elk Grove,
The Peregrine Falcons (10-5) received a balanced attack led by juniors Meezy Butler scored 15 points to lead a balanced scoring effort for the Peregrine Falcons (10-5). Juniors Brian Wright and Ephraim Sohn added 11 points each. Archie Williams is scheduled to play The Branson School on Monday at College of Marin.

Girls basketball
Senior Amelia Thomas scored a team-high 12 points as Marin Academy got back on the winning track with Saturday’s 40-24 victory over host St. Helena.
Freshman guard Penelope Lee had 10 points and five assists, while junior Lucy Robinson added six points and eight rebounds. Thomas also had four steals. The Wildcats (8-6) held the Saints (7-7) to single-digit scoring in each of the first three quarters in a commanding effort. The Wildcats are scheduled to face powerhouse Urban in a BCL West showdown on Tuesday.
- Marin Catholic dropped a tough one 58-46 against undefeated Menlo School in Saturday’s non-league matchup. The 8-8 Wildcats, who won their MCAL opener over Archie Williams on Friday, get back to league play Tuesday against San Marin, which lost a heartbreaker to Ukiah, 38-37, on Saturday.
