Breece Hall’s injury status remains uncertain heading into Week 15. What does that mean for fantasy football?

Game day update: Breece Hall is expected to play on Sunday, per Adam Schefter.

To say the least, the New York Jets have not had the season that many expected coming into the year. After starting 2-1, the Jets have just won one game in their last 10 as they sit at 3-10. One of the bright spots on the Jets this season has been third-year running back Breece Hall. Hall has shown the ability in moments of a top offensive playmaker if the offense could figure everything else out. With the season lost, Hall could miss a second consecutive week as we head into the final stretch of the 2024 campaign.

Breece Hall injury status

According to ESPN’s Rich Cimini, Jets running back Breece Hall is expected to play on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars despite being listed as questionable. Hall was sidelined last week with a knee injury which has limited his ability to practice. The Jets running back did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday. However, Hall was a full participant on Friday and interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich said, “He looks good right now, so it’s promising…We’re hopeful, and we’ll see how it goes.”

Hall will be a player to monitor on Sunday morning before the Jets play the Jaguars at 1 p.m. ET.

What Breece Hall injury means for fantasy football

With the fantasy playoffs beginning this week in many leagues, fantasy football managers will be hoping for a healthy Breece Hall. Hall has been just the RB15 this season in PPR leagues, but has the ability to have a high-end RB1 caliber week.

Hall has been a top-5 fantasy running back on three separate occasions this season back in Weeks 3, 7, and 11. His matchup in Week 15 certainly provides a lot of upside for another big fantasy week. The Jaguars have been one of the worst run defenses in the NFL this season. They’ve allowed the second-most fantasy points to running backs, allowing 22.2 fantasy points per game. The Jaguars have also allowed the fifth-most EPA per rush. If Hall is able to play, he is a must-start in fantasy lineups.

However, there does seem to be some level of uncertainty with Hall heading into Week 15. Even with the statement of confidence from interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich, there is some uncertainty with Hall’s status. As ESPN’s Stephania Bell noted,

Breece Hall sat out Week 14 in an effort to rest his right knee, the knee on which he underwent an ACL reconstruction in 2022...This season however has been more challenging. The reasons for that extend beyond Hall’s health but a recent setback with his knee has not helped...At the end of the day, Hall is a terrific young talent and whatever serves him best for a long and successful career going forward has to be at the forefront of the decision-making.”

If Hall can’t go on Sunday, Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis are worth considering in lineups. Davis has been especially impressive over the past two weeks. The rookie out of South Dakota State has shown to be a threat running the ball as well as a pass catcher out of the backfield. He’s been the RB18 over the last two weeks. Allen has shown some upside as the RB2 back in Week 2 and RB23 last week.

In the case that Hall does play, he is a must start. With that said, Allen or Davis still provide upside as a flex against this Jaguars defense. It’s a hit or miss on which one would produce, but given Davis’ recent success, he still may be worth a play.
