Warriors vs. Rockets injury report
The latest health updates for Golden State’s game against Houston.
The Golden State Warriors will try to end their five-game losing streak tonight when they host the Houston Rockets, in a preview of next week’s NBA Cup quarterfinals matchup. If the Warriors can win, they’ll likely be feeling pretty good about that matchup, since the Dubs are missing a whole lot of talent for this game.
Here’s the full injury report ahead of the 7:00 p.m. PT game.
Warriors
Out — Steph Curry (bilateral knee injury management)
Curry has played twice since missing a game last week, and he hasn’t looked particularly healthy in either game. He’s not moving the way we’ve come to expect of him, and it’s kept him from attacking the basket with any regularity. Needless to say, the Warriors season is dependent on Curry playing (and playing well), so hopefully he’s able to get his knee back near 100%.
Out — Draymond Green (left calf tightness)
The Dubs will be without their two best players, though they at least had the kindness to tell us that on Wednesday, so we had time to prepare. Now we wait and hope that Green’s injury won’t keep him out long.
Out — De’Anthony Melton (left ACL surgery)
Melton was ruled out for the season a while ago, but now we have a different injury to put next to his name, after he successfully underwent surgery on his injured ACL this week.
Questionable — Andrew Wiggins (right ankle impingement)
The Dubs have quite an uphill battle in this game without having Green, Curry, or Melton. Losing a fourth member of their starting lineup would make the difficult task even more challenging.
Rockets
Out — Tari Eason (concussion protocol)
Eason, the 17th overall pick in 2022, has really developed into a high-quality role player, as he’s averaging 11.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game off the bench in his third season. He’s played in all 22 of Houston’s games this year, but that streak will end tonight.
Out — Cam Whitmore (on G League assignment)
Many Warriors fans were upset that the team passed on Whitmore in the 2023 draft. He was a lottery pick in every mock draft, and at one point was near the top of the lottery in most people’s eyes. But pre-draft injury and attitude concerns saw him tumble on draft day, and the Rockets — who were reported to be considering Whitmore with the fourth overall pick (which they used on Amen Thompson) — scooped him up one slot after the Dubs chose Brandin Podziemski. Whitmore showed tons of flashes in his rookie season, in which he averaged 12.3 points per game. But he’s really struggled in his second year, and has played as many G League games as NBA games this season.
Questionable — Fred VanVleet (right knee contusion)
VanVleet’s numbers are down a bit this year, but he’s still having a strong season, and is one of the leaders on this very good Houston team. He is day-to-day with his injury, which hasn’t cost him any time.
Enjoy the action, Dub Nation!
