Golden State basketball is on the way! Come join our game thread and chat about tonight’s matchup here.

The Golden State Warriors wrap up their road back-to-back with Saturday night’s game against the San Antonio Spurs. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM PT in San Antonio and can be watched on NBC Sports Bay Area.

Previously with the Warriors:

The Warriors remain atop the Western Conference standings after Friday night’s 112-108 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. Despite playing against a undermanned Pelicans team, the game was competitive with the score coming down to the final few possessions. Draymond Green, who finished the night with 11 points and three made three-pointers, secured two clutch rebounds while hitting the free throws that would ice the game.

What to watch for tonight:

The Warriors enter tonight’s back-to-back having logged more minutes than usual after last night’s game. Regardless, head coach Steve Kerr indicated that everyone should be available for Saturday’s matchup.

The key to Golden State’s recent success has been Andrew Wiggins, who is on a scoring tear. Wiggins dropped a season-high 30 points on 9-of-14 shooting against the Pelicans, marking his third consecutive game with 20+ points on at least 50% shooting. His defensive impact remains equally vital, as he regularly takes on the opponent’s top offensive threat.

On the other side, the Spurs expect to have center Victor Wembanyama return to the starting lineup after he missed the last three games due to a bruised right knee. The reigning Rookie of the Year has been nothing short of spectacular, leading the Spurs with 22.7 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 3.7 blocks per game.

Wembanyama is also joined by former Warrior, Chris Paul. The 39-year-old point guard leads San Antonio with 8.6 assists per game and has been the perfect veteran leader to guide this young Spurs team.

Victor Wembanyama’s unique combination of length and athleticism poses a significant challenge for a smaller Warriors team, however, that hasn’t stopped them from stepping up in their previous matchups.
