Duke Women Roll Over Belmont, 79-47
As the Blue Devils really take the Bruins to the woodshed
Duke women rolled over Belmont 79-47 Thursday night and it may have been freshman Toby Fournier’s coming-out party. Fournier hit for 25 points on 10-15 from the floor.
However, defense may have been the bigger story.
Duke held Belmont to just 33.3 percent and forced 20 turnovers. Even better, the Blue Devils scored 26 points off of those turnovers.
Aside from Fournier, Oluchi Okananwa had 15 points on 6-7 from the floor (and 2-3 for her threes) and Ashlon Jackson kicked in 14.
There are always minor (or major) concerns, especially for coaches, but Duke was very good in this one.
Next up, the Devils head out to Nevada to take on Kansas State Monday.
