Golden State basketball is on the way! Come join our game thread and chat about tonight’s matchup here.

The Golden State Warriors begin their first back-to-back of the season with Tuesday night’s matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans. The game will be played at 7:00 PM PT in San Francisco and can be watched on TNT.

Previously with the Warriors:

Golden State lost their home opener on Sunday night, dropping a 112-104 game to the Los Angeles Clippers. For the first time this season, the Warriors struggled from deep, connecting on only 32.6% of their three-point attempts. Buddy Hield, one of Golden State’s best scorers to start the year, had a rough shooting night, going 1-of-9 from beyond the arc and finishing with just 8 points—his lowest output so far this season.

The lone bright spot of the game was Andrew Wiggins. He carried the load offensively for the team, scoring 29 points on an efficient 11-of-15 shooting from the field.

What to watch for tonight:

While the final score was disappointing, the biggest storyline coming from Sunday’s game was the wave of injuries that followed. Most notably, Stephen Curry left the game in the fourth quarter due to an ankle injury as the team later announced he will miss at least the next two matchups, including Tuesday’s game against the Pelicans. Backup guard De’Anthony Melton is also out for two games due to a back injury, while Wiggins will be sidelined for tonight’s game with a lower back strain.

Head coach Steve Kerr will have some work to do adjusting the rotation to compensate for these absences. Second-year guard Brandin Podziemski is expected to start in Curry’s place, with Buddy Hield likely filling in for Wiggins in the backcourt. Without Curry’s floor spacing and Wiggins’ defense, don’t be surprised if Kerr opts for a more traditional Three-and-D wing in the starting lineup like Moses Moody, thus leaving Jonathan Kuminga in the role of a scoring spark off the bench.
