Ahead of their final game of the preseason, the Lakers made a handful of moves, signing Grayson Murphy and waiving a pair of players in Kylor Kelly and Jordan Goodwin.

The Lakers made a pair of moves before their final preseason game on Friday afternoon. In simultaneous moves, the Lakers announced they had signed Grayson Murphy and waived Jordan Goodwin and Kylor Kelly.

All three players are/were on Exhibit-10 contracts.

For Kelly and Goodwin, this is a formality and paves the way for them to eventually play for South Bay in the G League. Neither featured in any significant way during preseason action in recent weeks.

Murphy might be a familiar name for the astute Summer League viewers. He spent time in California and Las Vegas this summer with the Lakers, including notching a double-double against the Bulls in Vegas.

Last year, he played with the Dresden Titans in Germany, averaging 13.8 points on 43.3% shooting from range.

There is a chance Murphy features in the final preseason game with the Lakers being on the second night of a back-to-back. More likely, though, this is a formality move to eventually sign with South Bay.

The Lakers have until Tuesday to make the rest of those formality moves. The roster is fully set at 15 players and the Lakers have all three two-way spots filled. The team has been pretty proactive in signing Exhibit-10 deals and filling out the team’s G League roster ahead of time this season.

Previously, Reddit has spoken about wanting to integrate the NBA Lakers with the G League Lakers, particularly because they share the same building. Perhaps this is an example of taking a different approach with the G League.
