Four-star big man Jamarion Davis-Fleming has set an announcement date.

The 6-foot-9 big man from Canton (MS) will announce at 3 p.m. on Oct. 15 on 247Sports.com between Ole Miss, Mississippi State, LSU and James Madison. Sources said LSU is no longer recruiting him.

The versatile big man chose Oct. 15 to honor his late grandfather’s birthday. His grandfather passed away in July of last year.

He broke down his top four schools this summer for ZAGSBLOG:

Ole Miss: “They’re a great school. They play big, inside out. I talked with coach [Al] Pinkins, coach [Wes] Flanigan. All the coaches I’ve talked to them. They hit me up every day probably, telling me good luck before the game. They talk to me. Their pitch is to me that I’m going to come in, play. I like that they’re not just throwing me the starting spot. It’s about coming in and work. That’s what I’m about. I want to come in and work and earn my starting spot instead of walking inside and be like, ‘Give it to me.’ So they think I can come in, put in work, and have a great chance to play my freshman year.”

Mississippi State: I talk to Mississippi State every day. Chris Jans texts me. Coach [George] Brooks has talked me up and everything. Basically the same thing, telling me that I can come in and have a great chance to play as a freshman. They said they like my game and how I can stretch the floor out. They like they way I play on defense. They’re a defensive school so they say I can come there and block shots and play right from the get-go.”

LSU: “They’re a great school. LSU was really my dream school, but you know dreams don’t matter when you’re trying to go to college so I’m just taking it school by school. But I love LSU. Coach [Ryan] McMahon, he’s a great — they’re building a great program over there. Basically the same thing, just come play as a freshman and work hard. They are telling me I’ll come in there and do great things, be the next Shaquille O’Neal. They always say that. I love LSU.”

James Madison: “I just got in contact with them. They have a new head coach. They came to watch our game when we played Team WhyNot. He said he really likes how I play defensively so they offered me a full-ride scholarship.”

Davis-Fleming has basketball in his blood. His father, Marcus Fleming, was a standout hooper at Alcorn State. His brother, Javian Davis, started his college basketball career at Alabama before transferring to Mississippi State and finishing his career at UAB in 2023-24.
