As Duke starts the season with immense optimism

The first day of practice is in the books and some guys have already made an impression.

Jon Rothstein was very impressed with Cooper Flagg - no surprise there - but also with Kon Knueppel and Darren Harris. He also had some thoughts on Mason Gillis.

He also tweeted out that his starting lineup did not include Caleb Foster. Here's who he’s got: Tyrese Proctor, Knueppel,Flagg, Gillis and Khaman Maluach. Here are some other comments he tweeted out:

  • The surprise today at Duke? 6-6 freshman Darren Harris. Was ridiculous from long distance. Made big shot after big shot. Remember The Name.
  • Effortless is the best word to describe Cooper Flagg. It feels like he’s playing Madden at the lowest possible level. As naturally gifted of a player as college basketball has seen a LONG time.
  • Would not be shocked if Kon Knueppel is Duke’s second-leading scorer behind Cooper Flagg. Uses angles exceptionally well. Always around the ball. A throwback offensive player.
