This really is pretty cool to watch

One more post from the Pro Devils Weekend and it’s a fun one: Dereck Lively was in, as you probably know, and he spent some time working directly with current Duke freshman Khaman Maluach.

Lively, remember, is just 20 years old. Last year he was a freshman at Duke. This year he was one of the better rookies in the NBA.

It’s striking to see how self-assured he is and how much he has learned. It’s also great to see how Maluach soaks up the knowledge. Someone - pretty sure it was Luol Deng, the former Duke star who now runs the South Sudan National Basketball Team, said he is a sponge. He sure looks like it here.

When you add this tutorial to the clip we saw earlier of Maluach blocking Cooper Flagg’s shots twice in one play, you start to get some perspective of just how dominant he could possibly be. Working with guys like Lively and Mark Williams will help and a solid year at Duke, we expect, will turn Maluach into a top five draft pick.
