Cooper Flagg New Balance Commercial Debuts

This is pretty impressive

The NIL revolution is well underway of course and it’s nothing new. But the new Cooper Flagg spot is a long way from Jeremy Roach doing commercials for pesticides and other somewhat awkward testimonials.

If you haven’t heard, Flagg has signed with home state shoe company New Balance and they put out this beautifully filmed commercial of Flagg, presumably in his hometown of Newport, Maine. It’s an ad that will speak to anyone who grew up shooting hoops in the driveway.

Flagg says that he grew up about 25 miles from the New Balance factory and that his mom used to hit their back-to-school sales.

It’s a great fit for him obviously, but it’s also a preemptive shot across the bow at Nike. Assuming New Balance can keep him signed, that would deny Nike a huge rising star and may possibly give New Balance a financial shot in the arm.

And at the end of the day, what better good could a small town kid from a lightly populated state do than help build up a local business?

Pretty great.
