Cavs release 2024 preseason schedule
The Cavs will play four exhibition games to get ready for the 2024-25 season.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have officially announced their preseason schedule for 2024. They will play four tune-up games before the results start mattering.
Here’s the full preseason schedule. The two home games are in bold:
- Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 7 PM - Chicago Bulls
- Thursday, Oct. 10 at 7 PM - Indiana Pacers
- Friday, Oct. 16 at 7 PM - at Detroit Pistons
- Sunday, Oct. 18 at 8 PM - at Chicago Bulls
The Cavs won’t have to wait long to see their former head coach on a different sideline. They will take on J.B. Bickerstaff’s Pistons in their first road game. This is the most notable game of the four preseason exhibitions.
It’s also worth pointing out that all four exhibition games will come against teams in the Cavs’ division. Cleveland will play each team in their division four times with the possibility of more depending on how the NBA Cup (in-season tournament) goes. Last season, only one of Cleveland’s preseason games came against a team in their division (Indiana).
The Cavaliers also had four preseason games last season as well with three coming against NBA teams. They went 1-3 with their only win coming against Israeli team Maccabi Ra’anana.
Opening night for the regular season will be on Tuesday, Oct. 22. The Boston Celtics will take on the New York Knicks followed by Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Los Angeles Lakers. The Cavs will start the regular season sometime after that. The complete regular season schedule is expected to be released later this week.
