‘College Football 25’ admitted FCS teams were way too good

FCS Midwest became a quick villain in ‘College Football 25’ and now we know why

Last month College Football 25 made its much-anticipated debut, returning to our lives after over a decade. The latest installment of the college football video game series was well received around the gaming and sporting world, but as players began embarking on their new dynasties, and “Road to Glory” journeys a villain emerged.

FCS Midwest.

As we wrote last month players quickly found out the hard way that, despite expectations, the FCS schools in the game — particularly FCS Midwest — were proving to be a bit tougher to handle.

Now we might know why.

EA Sports released their latest series of patches for the game, bringing improvements to gameplay, player abilities, recruiting, and more. Among the upgrades to College Football 25? A series of “sanctions” for the FCS schools in dynasty mode. According to the patch notes EA Sports “[d]iscovered that FCS SE, MW, and NW were secretly using professional players and passing them off as collegiate players. Gave them sanctions and ensured they are now using properly-rated players.”

However, EA Sports notes that for those “sanctions” to go into effect, players do need to start a new dynasty. Continuing with your current dynasty sees those schools somehow avoid sanctions, perhaps due to incredible lawyering or something. Speaking from experience lawyers do tend to ruin everything ...

However, if you start a new dynasty and are still struggling with those schools?

That might be a skill issue.
