After a very quiet summer, what grade would you give the Lakers offseason?

Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NBA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Los Angeles Lakers fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.

Whatever grand plans the Lakers had for the offseason certainly did not come to fruition. After being bounced by the Nuggets in the first round of the playoffs, the Lakers seemed prime for a refresh.

Ultimately, all that came was an expected head coach change — even if with an unexpected hiring — and a couple of draft picks. An air of expectation that something could happen has existed for weeks on end, but the deeper into the summer we go without a move, the less likely it feels that anything will actually happen.

So, with a perhaps underwhelming offseason largely in the rear view mirror, this week’s SB Nation Reacts survey asks what grade you would give the Lakers this summer.

It’s a bit of an odd summer because the moves the Lakers have made have been generally well-received. While there is a big question mark about JJ Redick as the next head coach, there have been plenty of good signs so far and he’s surrounded himself with a very talented coaching staff.

When it comes to their draft, setting aside the spectacle of drafting Bronny, landing Dalton Knecht with their pick looks like a huge win.

How much does that, though, outweigh the inaction the Lakers have had. Despite a willingness from LeBron James to take a paycut, the Lakers couldn’t make any free agent signing, let alone an impactful one.

And after months of leaking reports of trying to go all in on a trade with their draft picks, the Lakers just didn’t. And there were no rumors they would either. Nothing remotely amounted from that.

As a result, it feels hard to give the Lakers anything more than, like, a C for this offseason. The things they did were good, but they just didn’t do much.
