Kamala Harris receives Draymond Green's endorsement

0 3
Draymond Green: “Sending all my love and support to our VP, Kamala Harris. Good luck in your race. It’s the race of a lifetime. You achieved it, now go to be great. Be great on the campaign trail, be great in the debates, be great in your race to history. Your path for a young black girl to see, ‘Wow, I can run for president,’ that’s amazing. I got three daughters, for them to just have the idea of, ‘Wow, I could run for president one day,’ that’s what she’s doing. That’s incredible. To give that hope to young black and brown girls around the world that you could possibly run for president one day too, man, that’s different. That’s different. And they try to say you’re not black. I don’t think every young black girl who’s watching her thinks that. I think they see her like, ‘Wow, wow, that’s me.’ And how amazing is that?”

More on this storyline

Draymond Green: “Growing up in America as a young black man, it ain’t easy. It is not easy growing up in America as a young black man. And I remember sitting in the office with my dad. I grew up having seizures and I used to have these monthly checkups, or every couple of months, I would have to go to my neurologist. They would take blood, check my integrase levels out—that was the medicine I was on. I was actually on that medicine till I was 27 years old. I was looking in the magazine and I asked my dad, ‘Do you ever think we’ll have a woman president?’ and he said, ‘Not in my lifetime.’ I boohoo cried in that office because that was the first time I had processed, like, ‘Damn, my dad is going to die at some point.'” -via YouTube / August 5, 2024
And while Kerr, also Green’s coach with Golden State, already said he felt like an “idiot” for the choice, his outspoken forward offered an opinion on the latest episode of “The Draymond Green Show.” “Not playing [Tatum] was wrong,” Green said (h/t SI.com’s Kristen Wong). “We all know it was wrong. He should’ve played. He didn’t … What I don’t like about it is, now to me it feels like a covering my tracks, proving a point type of thing to where, oh now Joel [Embiid] is out of the lineup. And then [Saturday], Jrue [Holiday] didn’t play… From the outside looking in, it comes off as, ‘We made a mistake as a coaching staff.’ ” -via NBC Sports Bay Area / August 5, 2024
Podziemski, a rookie when his teammate was indefinitely suspended, discussed bonding with Green when appearing on “The Dinner Table” podcast. “In the beginning, he was more so just apologetic to us as a group,” Podziemski said. “During the suspension, we just talked about what he has to do going forward, what I could do to uplift myself and my role because he would be gone, all those little things. What he sees from a fan’s perspective because he’s not on the court from a coach’s perspective. “I tried to ask him all I could during that time he was out, and I tried to be there for him, moral-support wise. It can be lonely, being by yourself and not traveling with the team, having to stay home and watch.” -via NBC Sports Bay Area / August 2, 2024
