Blazers to move Anfernee Simons or Jerami Grant before training camp?

Aaron Fentress: “I would be surprised if Jerami (Grant) or Anfernee Simons, that one of the two is not moved. I was told that that’s definitely the goal, that one of the two would probably be gone before training camp. Both being gone might be different. They obviously have time. They can wait until the trade deadline and see if someone else will offer more.”

What’s the buzz on Twitter?

On @BleacherReport livestream, Anfernee Simons got something off his chest on nickname he shares with Anthony Edwards: “Who the real Ant? It doesn’t matter to me. My name is Anfernee or Ant. Had to clear that up…Doesn’t have to be a Civil War between Minnesota & Portland fans.” pic.twitter.com/a4okcPmmFI5:32 PM

More on this storyline

Aaron Fentress: “Grant, you can probably wait a little while longer because he’s clearly one of your best forwards by far. So you can start him and justify that, and it’s not a big deal. But as cool a guy as Grant is, Grant doesn’t want to waste his 30s, what years he has left, on a team that’s actively tanking again and might even tank again the next year. He wants to go somewhere where he can win, so both of them will be, I predict both of them will be gone by next summer.” -via YouTube / July 30, 2024
Evan Sidery: The Trail Blazers are seeking two first-round picks in any trade involving Jerami Grant, per @jovanbuha (m.youtube.com/watch?v=rFThfU…). The Lakers have maintained interest in Grant, but they don’t currently appear willing to meet Portland’s asking price. pic.twitter.com/UDFw3eRuvt -via Twitter @esidery / July 28, 2024
“As I’ve reported on here and on The Athletic, four names that have been consistently linked to the Lakers on the trade market have been Jerami Grant, Kyle Kuzma, Dorian Finney-Smith, and Cam Johnson. And as I recently reported at The Athletic, I’ve heard that the Lakers have held trade talks with Portland, Brooklyn, and Utah among other teams in recent days. So the Portland and Brooklyn talks would align with those players being on the trade market and at this point it’s a matter of haggling over picks and which players are involved.” -via YouTube / July 4, 2024
Aaron Fentress: “What they’re doing right now, making it clear that Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe are the centerpieces of the rebuild, means you gotta move Anfernee. Especially because you’ve committed to two guards, and Anfernee is better than both of them right now, right? You have to start Anfernee or it’s gonna look silly. If they don’t start Anfernee, he’s gonna probably demand a trade. So he’s about to go at some point soon.” -via YouTube / July 30, 2024
Chris Haynes: Trail Blazers guard Anfernee Simons joined the @BleacherReport livestream and shared his reaction to a teammate posting a highlight at halftime while down 18: “Did he just do that?…No way he did that. No way.” pic.twitter.com/fWaTDyBVjz -via Twitter @ChrisBHaynes / July 29, 2024
