Schauffele won the Open, so let’s update the PGA Tour money list to see where it is after the conclusion of the major season.

Welcome to Playing Through’s morning ritual: Golf Talk Today.

Each morning will feature a Golf Talk Today, in which the crew will discuss various elements of the PGA Tour, LIV Golf and other professional golf tournaments.

Unfortunately, the 2024 major championship season has come to a close.

Xander Schauffele won the Open Championship by two shots over Justin Rose and Billy Horschel to claim two of the four majors. It also completed the American sweep of majors for the first time since 1982.

Major Championship winners:

- The Masters: Scottie Scheffler
- PGA Championship: Xander Schauffele
- U.S. Open: Bryson DeChambeau
- The Open: Xander Schauffele

While Scottie Scheffler holds a commanding lead in the season-long money list at $28,148,691, Schauffele added a nice $3,100,000 paycheck from The Open.

The reigning PGA and Open champion still sits in second place on the money list but added some cushion between him and Rory McIlroy in third.

July ends this week, and with just a few more events until the FedEx Cup and even more massive purses, I wanted to show you where the money is.

2024 PGA Tour Money List (top 11)

*as of July 22, 2024

1: Scottie Scheffler: $28,148,691
2: Xander Schauffele: $15,867,160
3: Rory McIlroy: $10,353,190
4: Wyndham Clark: $9,912,305
5: Ludvig Åberg: $8,149,523
6: Collin Morikawa: $8,030,477
7: Sahith Theegala: $7,881,210
8: Hideki Matsuyama: $7,637,611
9: Shane Lowry: $5,704,520
10: Patrick Cantlay: $5,530,854
11: Sungjae Im: $5,514,330

The Top 10 switched up slightly, with Shane Lowry making an appearance, but for the most part, it stayed the same. Morikawa and Matsuyama switched places. That movement feels understandable after the two-time major winner keeps landing top-10 finishes, and Matsuyama has hit a cold streak.
