The Open Payout: How much money Xander Schauffle won in the last major championship

Xander Schauffele took home his second major championship of 2024 at the Open. Let’s take a look at the prize payout.

Xander Schauffele is officially a two-time major winner. He stormed past the field to win the 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon by two shots after he signed for a bogey-free 6-under 65 to get to 9-under overall.

It marked his second major win of 2024, as he also won the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club earlier this year.

Championship Sunday was quite dramatic. Many thought Billy Horschel would get the job done. Then Justin Rose captured the lead for a while. Thriston Lawrence looked to explode into the spotlight, and Scottie Scheffler threatened momentarily.

However, none of them could stay the course and avoid mistakes like Schauffele. He came home in 31 strokes, making four birdies in seven holes, including some of the toughest on the golf course.

Schauffele and Russell Henley were the only two to go bogey-free in the final round, but the former Georgia Bulldog only made two birdies.

Schauffele’s killer instinct down the stretch warded anyone else off who tried to challenge him.

The Open increased its purse to $17 million, which means Schauffele took home $3,100,000 and earned 750 FedEx Cup points.

Rose and Horschel shared the runner-up finish, and each earned $1,443,500. Henley took home solo fifth and $705,000. Shane Lowry finished solo sixth and earned $611,000.

Jon Rahm was the highest LIV Golf finisher, tied for seventh with Scheffler and Sungjae Im. They earned $451,833 each.
