Tyson once again left his mark.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have wrapped up their trip to Las Vegas behind a 100-93 victory over the Indiana Pacers. Let’s recap what we saw in their final showing.

Jaylon Tyson

The 20th overall pick finished Summer League with a bang. One game after falling just short of a triple-double, Tyson posted 23 points (9-10 FG), 5 rebounds and 3 assists in another sturdy all-around performance.

Tyson was a steady contributor in each game. He frequently made the heads-up play, showcasing his potential as a resourceful, multitalented wing. Tyson’s ability to play both with and without the ball could make him a perfect fit for Cleveland.

It’s important not to get swept away by a Summer League performance. But excitement is impossible to avoid when watching how Tyson dominated his competition.

Luke Travers

Luke Travers has a quiet game. He didn’t stand out one way or another and that’s not something you’d hope to see from a player in his third Summer League stint.

The 22-year-old forward has bits and pieces of being a connective playmaker. He processes the game nicely and can deliver on a variety of passes. Putting it all together is another story. Travers hasn’t shown much explosiveness or an ability to create advantages in Summer League. He rarely beat his man off the dribble and continued to shoot poorly from three-point range.

Travers’ limited scoring ability will likely hold him back from making a seamless jump from the NBL to the NBA. Additional time in the G-League or NBL would probably be his best chance at honing his craft.

DJ Burns

Fans were excited to see what DJ Burns might have to offer. His minutes were sparse but there’s no denying he’s a fun prospect to watch.

Burns is listed at 6’9” and 275 pounds, making him a brute force in the paint. He’s a brick wall when setting screens and can deter drives to the hoop simply by standing under the rim with his arms up. Add a surprisingly gentle touch on jump shots and Burns is a Summer League spectacle.

The modern NBA’s emphasis on positional versatility gives Burns a narrow path to the league. He’s not a towering presence and is too immobile to avoid being targeted defensively. Without any premiere skills, Burns will struggle to find a role at the next stage.
