Cleveland faltered late in the game.

The Cleveland Cavaliers began the game struggling to establish an offensive rhythm. They eventually gained momentum behind a second quarter run, taking the lead and holding onto it until the closing minutes of the fourth quarter.

Cleveland’s offense faded as the game neared its end. Tyson buoyed the team with his playmaking through the first three quarters but critical misses from Emoni Bates and Pete Nance left the Cavaliers scoreless in the final three minutes.

Tyson emerged as the focal point of the Cavaliers’ offense, showcasing skills reminiscent of his standout junior year at Cal. He not only orchestrated plays but also dominated the boards, showcasing improved shot selection by efficiently converting 6-of-9 attempts. Tyson finished the game with an impressive near triple-double of 21 points, 9 assists, and 11 rebounds, flashing his potential as a first-round pick.

Apart from Tyson, Cleveland’s offense struggled to find consistency. Emoni Bates started strong with 8 points in the first quarter but faced difficulties as the game progressed, finishing with a total of 14 points after missing some crucial shots in the fourth quarter.

Luke Travers had a subdued performance, continuing to struggle from long range and failing to make a significant impact on the game. His lackluster showing raises questions about his offensive capabilities, particularly when compared to rookies like Tyson who contribute both skill and scoring.

Pete Nance had a challenging game overall but made crucial contributions down the stretch, scoring on key transition plays and hitting two crucial three-pointers in the fourth quarter. Nance finished as the second-highest scorer for the Cavaliers with 16 points.

The Cavaliers’ Summer League team appears to lack a clear identity compared to last year’s championship team. This season’s squad relies heavily on individual performances, with Tyson’s standout game serving as a prime example of how only individual efforts can secure victories.
